Trinidad - A new beginning

So yes, I do realize that after a year of neglect our blog finally has some life being pumped back into it!! It goes along with my hope of wind soon lifting up our sails and sending us of into the big blue.

After a year of longing and suspense, Jangles is being polished up to be made sea worthy once again! This time though, we have the Jangles family (all but one) ready to embark on a new voyage across the seas. After a month of hard work in Trinidad, and delving head first deep into the dark pits of the engine bay, we hope to be back where we belong, upon the sweet caressing ocean waves (sometimes not so sweet), once again.

Rebecca and I had been going along smoothly with our school work until we reached some distractions. . .well two distractions. . . boys. We befriended two young South African boys upon yacht Catlyn, who we ended up spending a great deal of time with. Some of our many adventures included hiking to a waterfall, chasing flour and getting lost in Port of Spain, movies, night time doubles and many more  various fun activities. . . some of which included a little risk.

With all this hard work must come some play. . .or torture in my case. A Canadian friend we have, Robert, has me up at 6am every second morning to run! Yes. . .run. And run we surely do! No body has ever made me sweat so much in my life! And because we can. . .according to Robert. . .we hike every other morning! I must say my fear of heights has been conquered once we reached the tip of a rusty old radar tower that was covered in "Caution, Do Not Enter" tape!

Robert does have a boat however, that is on the water. . . BONUS!. So we took a day sail  with a South African family and our very good friend Marco to a little bay called Chacachacare. A very pretty petite bay that provided us with endless entertainment.

My mother (who was very concerned about turning green) came out rather fine and ended up enjoying herself! Yes, Success!! We spent the afternoon diving off the boat, swimming around the bay and exploring abandoned leper colonies! Dolphins danced with us as we sailed back to our home base in Trinidad. . .what a beautiful day that was!!

All in all, life is really great and will be even better when we have the wind filling up our sails once again! Hopefully my fishing rod will be going off as well. . .with a bit of luck! Until then. . .be safe and live well. xxx
